Our Minnesota summer is well underway, and if you’re like us, you are doing your best to make the most of it. As a proud member of the New Ulm community, we have the great advantage of having everything this wonderful city has to offer at our fingertips. Whether you’re from the area or are planning a weekend getaway, we want to help you plan the perfect lineup of activities.

The New Ulm Chamber of Commerce offers an array of weekend getaway ideas that we will share below so you can pick the one that best suits your group.

Ladies Weekend

This two-day itinerary starts with a fresh coffee and breakfast pastry at Lola – An American Bistro. Once you’re fueled up, it’s time to get shopping at one of the many boutiques, antique stores, and gift shops in New Ulm. This is a perfect opportunity to stop by A to Zinnia to shop our latest collection of décor, clothing, self-care items, and so much more!

Fill up the rest of your weekend with a trip to Morgan Creek Vineyards, a tour of August Schell’s Brewery, and enjoying a meal at one of our many fantastic local restaurants. And don’t forget to take a while to pamper yourselves at one of our local salons with a manicure, pedicure, facial, or massage!

Family Getaway

We have activities for mom, dad, and the kids to all enjoy together! The New Ulm Chamber recommends starting your trip at Riverside Park to let the kids play on the pirate ship park, try your luck at fishing in the river, and then work your way to the Riverside History & Nature Center to learn more about the history of the river in this area.

Follow-up your exploration at Riverside with lunch at one of our authentic German restaurants, then head over to Lola – An American Bistro for one of their famous, handmade dessert bars. Wrap up your day with a trip to the August Schell’s Brewery where the kids can enjoy a root beer and try to spot the many hidden gnomes and the peacocks in the gardens. Finish your trip with a hike or a bike ride on the 13-mile trail at Flandrau State Park!
